Driving Innovation in Digital Learning at Indeed: Lucy’s Story

Lucy McCann transformed how Indeed’s global team delivers learning with the help of the Digital Learning Institute. Here’s how she advanced her career—and how you can, too.
I’m Lucy McCann, and I work on the Learning Design Team at Indeed. As a Strategist, I focus on planning, implementing, and designing training content for our global sales and client success teams. We support them through their entire journey, from onboarding to ongoing development, ensuring they have the knowledge and tools they need to succeed.
Why I Chose the Digital Learning Institute
The shift to virtual learning in 2019 was a turning point for us. Moving from in-person workshops to fully digital solutions meant that I needed to upskill to keep pace with the industry and deliver innovative learning experiences.
When my management team introduced me to the Digital Learning Institute, the course immediately stood out as a perfect fit. The modules were focused on exactly where I wanted to grow, and testimonials from others reassured me it was the right choice.
How the Course Transformed My Work
The Diploma gave me a chance to step back and focus on the "why" behind our learning strategies. Instead of just delivering training, I started thinking more about the theory, impact, and best modalities for our learners. This reflective approach has helped me make our learning content more engaging and impactful.
I also brought back new processes and tools to my team, improving how we approach global consistency. Whether it's through self-driven eLearning, peer support guides, or interactive workshops, we’ve implemented strategies that ensure our training resonates with learners from Japan to Dublin to Stanford.
Innovating for the Future
Thanks to the Diploma, we’re focusing on innovative modalities like interactive videos and podcasts to engage our learners even further. The tools and resources from DLI have equipped me and my peers to create content that blends self-driven learning with collaborative opportunities.
Lucy’s Advice for Aspiring Learning Designers
If you’re considering this course, go for it. The flexibility, structure, and hands-on approach allow you to apply what you’re learning directly to your work. The resources, community, and practical elements make it an invaluable experience that continues to benefit me even after the course.
