At the Digital Learning Institute (DLI), we empower professionals to take their careers to the next level with future-focused, practical learning. Our alumni apply their expertise to create meaningful impact in their organizations, and we love sharing their success stories. This case study highlights the journey of Thamara Twilt, a quality analyst-turned-instructional designer who is transforming workplace learning at Just Eat Takeaway.
Meet Tamara Lesniewska
Thamara Twilt is a Training and Knowledge Specialist at Just Eat Takeaway, where she designs and develops learning experiences for courier employees working under an employment model. Originally a quality analyst, Thamara identified training gaps within her organization and began stepping into the world of instructional design to make a more meaningful impact.
Her transition into digital learning was driven by a desire to create training that not only supports business goals but also prioritizes the safety and development of employees. When she took on the responsibility of designing safety training—where real lives were at stake—she decided to enroll in the Digital Learning Institute to formalize her instructional design skills.

Applying DLI Learnings in the Workplace
Thamara’s experience with DLI provided her with critical tools and frameworks to scale training in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment. Key learnings included:
Strategic Planning with Scoping Templates: To meet demanding turnaround times, Thamara created a scoping template that integrates the most relevant theories and frameworks from DLI. This helps her stay focused and consistent, even under tight deadlines.
Instructional Design End-to-End: Although she works independently on design, development, distribution, and evaluation, DLI taught her how to better structure projects through storyboarding and planning, especially when collaborating across teams.
Leveraging AI Tools: Thamara uses AI to streamline her design process, speeding up content creation while maintaining instructional quality.
Challenges and Solutions
Thamara encountered several challenges in her transition, but she addressed each using her growing instructional expertise:
Planning vs. Doing: Used to executing training independently, she initially struggled with slowing down to plan and storyboard. However, this practice—reinforced by DLI—proved crucial in aligning teams and improving outcomes.
Fast-Paced Environment: Working in a startup-like culture at Just Eat Takeaway, she often has less than two months to design full e-learning programs. Her adaptive use of theory, templates, and tech tools allows her to meet these pressures without sacrificing quality.
Business-Critical Training: As she shifted into safety training and data reporting, the stakes became higher. DLI’s emphasis on evidence-based design helped her create training that is not only engaging but also reliable and accountable
Outcomes and Impact
Thamara’s journey exemplifies the power of combining professional curiosity with structured learning:
Elevated Learning Quality: Her use of instructional design frameworks has improved the clarity, consistency, and impact of her training programs.
Enhanced Business Operations: Through a recent project on data quality and reporting, Thamara helped resolve critical issues in HR systems while upskilling employees to generate their own reports.
Confidence and Credibility: With DLI’s training, she now confidently leads initiatives that influence company-wide learning culture, especially around hard skills and safety.
Conclusion
Thamara Twilt’s journey from quality analyst to instructional designer demonstrates how the Digital Learning Institute equips professionals with the skills and mindset to lead learning transformation. Whether addressing life-critical safety issues or upskilling staff on data systems, Thamara shows how intentional design—rooted in real-world frameworks—can accelerate both personal and organizational growth.
Her story is a compelling example of what’s possible when professionals combine on-the-ground insight with structured learning design training.
