On the 12th of March we held an exciting webinar with guest speaker Stella Collins.

Stella Collins is co-founder and Chief Learning Officer at Stellar Labs and an evangelist for effective evidence-based learning. She and her team deliver world class learning solutions with impact, including a Skills Transfer platform built with neuroscience and fuelled by AI.

Stella is an acknowledged expert on the practical application of science-based learning to business performance and has trained thousands of professionals in more than 25 years in L&D. Her sell-out book ‘Neuroscience for Learning and Development’ is translated into 4 languages and in its 3rd edition. Her Linkedin Learning course has more than 30,000 participants. Stella engages and inspires audiences at international conferences, round table discussions, webinars, podcasts and blogs.  She hosts of the ‘Mind the Skills Gap’ podcast.

Stella has a BSc in Psychology, an MSc in Human Communication, is a Fellow of the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning, founder of the Brain Friendly Learning Group and one of the Brain Ladies.

Stella wants ‘A world where every minute spent learning is worth it!’

Stella began the webinar by explaining the fundamental concepts of neuroscience that are critical for designing effective learning experiences. She described the GEAR model (Guide, Experiment, Apply, Retain), a framework for learning design that takes from knowing - to doing. This model emphasises the significance of leading students through content, encouraging them throughout the learning process, giving chances for hands-on application, and creating an environment favourable to experimenting.

A highlight of the session was Stella's exploration of the synergistic potential of neuroscience and artificial intelligence in developing impactful training programs. She shared insights into Stellar Labs' AI-fueled platform, which optimises learning outcomes by creating training programs that are both more efficient and effective. By leveraging AI, Stella demonstrated how learning experiences can be personalised and adapted to meet the unique needs and preferences of each learner.

Stella also addressed the significant ethical issues involved in using neuroscience and AI to learning. She emphasised the importance of transparency, privacy, and equity while designing and implementing learning technology. The conversation emphasised the value of ethical stewardship as educators and developers traverse the exciting but difficult terrain of learning innovation.
